˝Krunoslav Sukić˝ Peace Award ceremony 2023

We invite you with joy to the “Krunoslav Sukić” 2023 Peace Award Ceremony!

Peace Award Ceremony 2023 will take place in Osijek on 7^th December 2023 at the Ceremonial Hall in Croatian National Theatre in Osijek , at 12 o'clock.  

This is the 15th annual cycle of this Peace Award “Krunoslav Sukić”. It is one of only a few peace prizes in the whole South-east Europe - it is national, but with regional and in modest scale of international reach and influence. Over the years it has become a recognizable place for gathering, celebration and encouragement. We would like to describe Award as social place of the "common ground" – common is commitment to a peaceful society even though laureates are different in many ways and come from different social strata, groups and generations.

 

 

The  ˝Krunoslav Sukić˝ Peace Award ceremony 2023 is intended for individuals for their activities in the Republic of Croatia, i.e. for activities that have an impact on building sustainable peace and a culture of non-violence in the Republic of Croatia and its surroundings, the countries of the Western Balkans.
The award is a recognition for persistent, courageous, and inclusive resistance to violence, for the application of non-violent methods in the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms, for the transformation of social conflicts and disputes, and for encouraging creative, solidarity and collaborative responses to threats to peaceful sustainable development.

By awarding awards and recognitions, we want to contribute to the visibility of solidary, consistent, especially creative and courageous actions of individuals in preventing violence, reducing social injustices and building a democratic society based on a culture of non-violence. We believe that celebrating and giving thanks for working for the common good encourages individuals to use their civic and political power in favor of positive social change.
