We thank the friends of the Award for their support so far! As we want the Award to be ours, we have chosen to maintain and develop it with a network of support from people and organizations. We have been able to do this for the eleventh year thanks to your support - in small donations, volunteering, donations in goods, covering the costs of attending the award ceremony... promotion of the Award on social networks.
And how else when the Award bears the name of Krunoslav Sukić, a native of Osijek, one of the founders of the Centre for Peace, peace activist and humanist. He represents those publicly little-known and recognized men and women who, despite the war and in the war, and in such difficult, almost confusing transitional times, have done and are doing everything possible for them to progress as a society and political community through non-violent methods towards a more just, democratic society - where individuals and the community will have space to develop their creative potentials, but not to the detriment of the other and without fear of the other – but to nurture solidarity and cooperation to nurture, maintain and promote peace.
Through these seven years, the "Krunoslav Sukić" Award has become a recognizable gathering place for thanks, encouragement and celebration. The annual award ceremony in Osijek is attended by guests from all over Croatia, the region and Europe. The reputation that the Award has gained so far lies in the richness of excellence and dedication of its winners. So far, the Awards and Accolades have been awarded to winners from eight counties, including the easternmost, Vukovar-Srijem and southern, Dubrovnik-Neretva. Last year, the award took on a regional and international dimension. In 2015, we introduced the PEACEBUILDING SCHOOL AWARD.
